Helping children and young adults in Northamptonshire build a safe trusting relationship where healing and growth can take place
“Within therapy, children and young adults are offered a safe environment in which they lead at their own pace. There is no judgement, no right or wrong, good or bad.”
Therapy gives children and young adults strategies to cope with life's difficulties they cannot control, promoting a more positive outlook for their future.
Helps children and young adults process complex emotions and develop healthy coping mechanisms for anxiety and stress.
Provides a safe space for children and young adults to process traumatic experiences at their own pace, reducing long-term impact.
Addresses challenging behaviours by understanding and meeting the emotional needs behind them.
Enables children and young adults to express feelings they cannot verbalise, building confidence and self-awareness.
Sessions are person-led in a safe, judgement-free environment. There is no right or wrong, just a supportive, confidential space for the individual to express themselves.
Everyone is different, so therapy is tailored to each person. For children, this may involve play and creative techniques to help them express what they cannot always put into words. For young people and adults, we may use talking therapy alongside creative approaches to gently explore experiences and emotions.
We prioritise privacy and adhere to strict safeguarding policies. The therapeutic space is kept confidential, allowing individuals to explore freely without fear of judgment or expectation.
A successful therapeutic journey involves collaboration between therapist, family, and caregivers. Here's how we can work together to support you.
Allow the individual to decide whether they want to share details about their therapy sessions. This helps build trust and autonomy in the therapeutic process.
Try not to ask about what happened in sessions if the person doesn't volunteer the information. This respects their therapeutic space.
Maintain regular dialogue with the therapist, ensuring we're aligned in supporting the person's unique needs.
Person centred therapy is an approach that works at the person’s pace. Changes may be subtle at first, but meaningful progress happens over time.
Note: It's completely normal for behaviour to temporarily worsen as they begin to process emotions. If you're concerned about any changes, please don't hesitate to discuss them with the therapist.
